Dear New Life Member,

For the last 25 years, New Life Christian Church has been blessed by the ministry of Ezell Nelson, first as Youth Minister and then as Senior Minister. We are thankful for the lives that have been transformed for Christ during his ministry. But, as you can see from the attached letter, Ezell is stepping back at this time. We want to pray for him and his future as he heals and seeks what God has in store for his life. Likewise, we seek prayers for the future direction of New Life Christian Church and how God will continue to use this amazing congregation to carry out the Great Commission as well as our purpose statement: “Honor God, Serve Others and Share the Good News of his Love.”  The leadership has immediately formed a search committee to begin the process for finding our next senior pastor. We ask that our membership pray for our wisdom, discernment and patience as we navigate this process. New Life Christian Church has been served in its thirty-eight years by only two senior ministers - Gary Layman and Ezell Nelson. Those are big shoes to fill but we know God will provide the right man for the job.

As has been announced, Andrew and Amos Gonzalez are now serving as co-youth ministry directors and we are excited already at their ideas and work in the junior and high school youth. They are having a Wednesday night program for junior and high school (7 through 12 grade) beginning at 6:00 p.m. that includes games/fellowship, then meal, lesson, then discussion time. Sunday night is fellowship time at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for 9-12th grade.

Jackie and Taylor Henderson will continue to lead the incredible worship services at NLCC and Merita Beaty has returned to serve in the church office. Suzi Stewart, Debbie Hightower and Kami Ratcliff have been overseeing our children’s ministry and are so appreciated in working in the vital education of our youth.

We are so thankful for our many volunteers. There are unlimited opportunities to serve Christ at NLCC and everyone will be needed as we start the next chapter in our church. God bless as we remember the words of Jesus: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of Life.”
